JHS SHS level

Explore ESL has run Junior and Senior High classes since 2014. We have students from our own G1-6 ESL program as well as from outside our programs. Many students have attended other ESL learning, however some are interested and driven in their English learning and just want to take it to the next level.

In countries with English speaking populations, reading has been the most popular way to improve vocabulary, solidify grammar and promote intellectual discussions. We follow a novel based learning approach. We believe this creates interest and allows the students to EXPLORE vocabulary and usage.

Many senior high school and University students in Taiwan are not able to communicate in English in either spoken or written form very successfully, yet many future courses have all their reading and materiel produced in English. To be an engineer, the latest research papers are mostly in English, so are the text books. This goes for many other higher education and post-doctorate courses.

At Explore ESL we use critical thinking communicating in English. As we read the novel we can continually practice the vocabulary we study and acquire each week. This vocabulary is used in frequent writing exercises, with this combination it is learned to be remembered not forgotten after the next exam.

We do recognize some need for exam based English learning so we incorporate some listening, reading, writing and speaking practice from both intermediate-high intermediate GEPT and the IELTS tests.
